Unanble to upload final binary version

Hello,

I tried to upload the final version of my application on July 23 but it failed. Since more than one week, I worked with Samsung Apps support to find out the issue. But the last answer was very disappointing:

"
The department in charge will update the seller office on Aug. 13 to prevent the same error from happening.
Thus, we would like to recommend you to delete and register the application again.
"

I told them that it's a challenge application and I can't remove and create again the application but I received as anwser the request to send necessary information (content ID, application name etc) for investigation: exactly the same information as the begining. It is the third question for the same issue for more than one week !

Before I tried to upload the final version, I deleted the previous version still under device tests (uploaded one week before). So I have nothing (as binary) in Samsung Apps for the contest. Before this happens, I succeeded in uploading the application two time without any issue.

Now I have lost more than one week for the certification, and I don't see how my application can be certificated without significant intervention of challenge team and Samsung Apps team. As a developer, I consider that it is really stupid to be disqualified in this way !

If someone has some idea to make progress my situation, it will be really appreacited. For the moment I don't have real hope.

Thanks for your help !

    Hello tangsx ,

Thank you for your question! I'm very sorry you've had trouble.

Please note today's update to registrants (http://gearapp.challengepost.com/updates/1893-important-certification-process-content-id-updates), which states:

Due to an issue in the Seller Office system, some developers are having trouble updating Gear Apps in the Samsung GALAXY Apps Seller Office using the original Content IDs included in challenge entries.

If you're experiencing this problem, please resubmit your Gear App to the Samsung GALAXY Apps Seller Office using a new Content ID.

Note: you MUST use the same Seller ID and App Name listed in your challenge entry in order to remain eligible for the competition. Your Seller ID and App Name will be used to connect your challenge entry with your Samsung GALAXY Apps Seller Office entry. You do not need to resubmit your new Content ID to ChallengePost.

    Thank you!
    Serena

    Serena,

You must be aware that name is unique for SamsungApps ! We can't use the same name twice. Please advise what to do in that case ?

BTW tangsx .... it takes about 8 days on average to certify something in this store. No way we will be able to pass certification even if you upload it today :(

I think the problem is that they don't make pre-certification. To see if it works properly and reject obvious bugs immediately. For instance I was waiting 8 days to get information that my application needs to react on BACK gesture to be closed.

Maybe for Testing team this is obvious, but not for new people coming to the store. Why don't reject such app immediately ? Why need to wait 8 days to get such feedback from test team ? I think they should simply make some pre-test to reject obvious bugs quickly. This is my opinion.

    Hi rbereski,

Yes I think you are right: "You must be aware that name is unique for SamsungApps !". I will try to submit a new application with the same name and come back here to state the effect.

Yes you are right: "No way we will be able to pass certification even if you upload it today". It is what I worried about since the begining. I would like that the challenge team could be comprehensible !

I thought I'm the only one to have this issue. Now I feel to have more solidarity. Many thanks !

    Hi Everyone,

Thank you for your comments. We are aware that there may be a potential issue with the Content ID solution that was sent out in today's email. We’re actively working to get an answer on this from the relevant parties and will post an update just as soon as we have it.

Thank you so much for your patience and understanding. I hope to have more information as soon as possible.

    Best,
    Serena

For re-submitting, it appears one person has posted that completely deleting their submission allowed them to create a new application with the same name (ie. the duplicate name problem doesn't seem to be an issue): http://developer.samsung.com/forum/thread/re-submit-gear-app-for-app-challenge/201/270232?boardName=SDK&startId=zzzzz~ . Is there something that prevents one from doing what is posted there to then follow the update sent out today of having an application with the same name?

The certification time is another issue. It seems like it can take up to 7 business days to approve an application. So, if one required all re-submissions be submitted before Monday (Korean Time), then the earliest for everything to get through would be August 12th. A special express line wouldn't be fair as others are awaiting review on applications that can't be delayed (only 3/5 of my submissions are now approved, so self-interested in that). Which likely means either extending the deadline or starting to judge on schedule but continue to add / approve applications that get certified after August 7th but before August 13th?

    These are unforseen complications here.
I think its great that Serena and the Samsung team are doing their best to resolve it - i.e giving the opportunity for deletions and resubmissions, accomodating new content IDs.

A few people may feel this is problematic in respect to fairness. Though its unlikely, allowing new submission may have inadvertently given some extra time to work on their submissions.

To address this, I think the organizers should stress that the version/features shown in the submission video is what the judging criteria will be based on. I think they have said this before already.

    Wishing everyone the best!

    -V.

PHDGaming I was also thinking about deleting the app and uploading new one again. The problem here is that you are loosing the evidence that you have submitted the correct app. Imagine that one could submit his app after the entry deadline.

If you don't delete you have some evidence at least that first time you did it correctly.

Serena, do you have any answer what we should do with the name ? It must be unique .... Thanks for your support.

    Hello,

I read all your comments. I did some tests but still without any success.

I tried first to add a new application with the same name. When I uploaded the binary, it is rejected saying it is already used by the previous application.

So I deleted the previous application (Yes, I know it is not yet the final solution from Samsung and I lose the historic but in current situation, I don't have any other better solution, so I did the test): in this case I can upload the binary but when I click on the Submit button, I got an error message just saying:

    "
    Failed.
    Please try again
    "
    It is not very meanful

PS: for registration historic, Samsung Apps should be able to find out the historic if the database is well backuped

Anyway I wait for Serena response. At the moment I have uploaded new app with similar name - not the same. So I have both. anyway I think it will be not certified, because it take more than 7 days and I have uploaded them over the weekend. So if they will not extend the period once again, I'm out of the game.

And not because I was late, but because I have problem with package uploading :) 3 weeks of my work gone.

    Hello Everyone,

I'm sorry for the delay. We've just sent out an update with corrected information and instructions (http://gearapp.challengepost.com/updates/1899).

This update gives instructions for dealing with the error message, "The binary is invalid. You can register a Gear binary after selecting the gear platform." It also addresses what to do if your Content ID has changed since the submission period deadline.

Thank you so much for your patience and understanding.

    Best,
    Serena

    Hello Serena,

    Thank you for the answer.

The deadline for the contest certification is 7th. How is it possible Samsung Galaxy Apps will certify the app for 2 days ? Usually it takes up to 8-9 days as I have noticed. There will be some special process to certify this immediately ?

My second question is related to new content ID. Finally, because I was waiting and was not sure what to do. I have uploaded a new application with similar name but different Content ID. I did it over the weekend so it might be not certified on time. Is it possible to certify this new Content Id now ? Or I need to reproduce the bug ?
If we will go wit new Content ID, could it be also processed in some priority queue ?

    Thank you for your support.

    Hi rbereski,

Thanks for your questions. I would recommend reproducing the binary file upload error on your original entry and sending the items needed to Samsung (Seller ID, App Name, original Content ID and screenshot of the error message). They are aware of the issue and will reach out to you individually to update your file quickly.

    Best,
    Serena

    Hello,
I tried the first update by deleting the previous application and creating a new application with the same name. I can complete the registration form but I can't submit the registration. It seems it is not the same error as others have. Anyway I followed the procedure described by Serena and sent the issue with screenshots to support@ssac2014.com.

I have also sent email to support@ssac2014.com. I have finally ended with two entries. I was trying not to delete the previous one.

I hope this procedure described by Serena is not only application submission but also priority certification. Otherwise there will be only 1 day left for certification :)

@rbereski What was the subject of your email ?

  •   •   over 11 years ago

Not sure if I understand. What you need my email subject for :) ?

  •   •   over 11 years ago

@Serena101 I have send an email to support@ssac2014.com tomorrow(Ofcourse before 5th August 5pm EDT). But till now anyone do not contact me. I have only one days remaining for certification. But I can not upload my modified version of my application. What can I do now ?

  •   •   over 11 years ago

I don't receive any response either. We did what we could do. I hope Samsung can take our binary and do the certification tests with special priority, maybe with some workaround solution (indeed, it's just a binary to take and test. Upload issue is not the most important for our case, isn't it ? The upload procedure could be normalized later if the issue couldn't be fixed and no workaround found).

Anyway there is not much we can do before the deadline. Good luck to everyone !

    Hi akashs_csedu and tangsx,

Thank you for your notes. If you've emailed support@ssac2014.com with the required information listed in this update (http://gearapp.challengepost.com/updates/1899) then that is all you will need to do for now.

    Thanks!
    Serena
